Kim Walker

My Passion for health and fitness started years ago when I decided to take control of my own health after witnessing what neglecting ones health can do. I started small by improving my diet and starting to workout at home using videos and basic cardio equipment in the basement. As I progressed and starting seeing positive results from the little I was doing, my interest grew and I knew I needed more. This prompted me to shift my career pathway in the direction of health and fitness.

From there I decided to attend college at Carroll University to where I received my BS in Exercise Science with a minor in Sports Nutrition to thoroughly dive into the fundamentals of the human body and how to properly train it. Upon graduation I further worked to get my sports nutrition certification through the International Society of Sports Nutrition. Now having a CISSN certificate, I am developing as much knowledge with nutrition as possible as I feel it is the corner stone of our health and to also further compliment my degree. In my journey, I started getting heavily involved with CrossFit as well as Olympic Weightlifting by doing several competitions over the years and still competing in CrossFit to this day. Because of this direction, I decided to get some credentials in these areas to not only help myself with better training and approaches, but to also help further with training and coaching others. I now also have a USAW level 1 certificate as well as I have received my CF level 1 that I have been maintaining. After suffering a minor rotator cuff tear in relations to having a Buford Complex deformity, I had to take a break from both CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting and decided to branch into body building a bit and trained for a couple photo shoots over the years. I now currently train in a hybrid style of body building with CrossFit. Over time I have developed knowledge in various training modes and feel that helps me as a coach with understanding the idea of quality strength and power training, high intensity training and the art of building muscle mass. Even with these various educational achievements and experiences, I am always working to learn and keep up on the latest research to not only offer myself the best approaches, but more importantly use this knowledge to guide my clients in the best direction possible within my scope of practice.

Throughout the time developing my education, I have worked in corporate wellness settings, various gyms and now am independently running a health coaching business. I focus my coaching on areas such as helping people simply improve their overall health (this can range from overall feeling better, improving blood markers and improving sleep and stress for example), improving body composition and improving form and fitness abilities. However, I do hold a special interest in helping my fellow females who are in perimenopause or are post menopausal as I myself am entering that phase and appreciate the changes occurring and the needed approaches to more optimally manage this time in life. In general I take hormones into account in my coaching, as hormonal status absolutely can effect how we respond. Over time my coaching has adjusted and will continue to adjust over time based on cumulative experiences, paired with the latest research to refine my approaches to offer the best results possible for my clients.
